About Jigsaw AP

Jigsaw Alternative Provision is a company based in the South West, working with young people who require a more personalised educational experience on either a short, or longer-term basis. Our main priority is to build strong relationships with young people based on trust, mutual respect and understanding, to enable them to thrive and take their place in society.

Our team of experienced and highly motivated teachers, learning mentors and life coaches use a range of practical methods to best assist children on their journey: we understand that no two journeys are the same, and our aim is to ensure that our chosen team member is perfectly matched with every child to ensure that a bespoke package of tutoring and/or mentoring will help them achieve. Our principle of Alternative Provision, or ‘Education Outside School’ will focus on the ‘now’ - what needs to be tackled in the short or medium term, what needs to be done to enable the next step and finally, the future - what does the young person need to do to reach their goal?

Our values

Enriching brighter futures through strong relationships based on trust, mutual respect and understanding

How are we different

Each child will work with a professional who best suits their individual needs to allow them to flourish in the curriculum and beyond. Many of our staff already have pre-existing relationships with key stakeholders, allowing advancement and progress at an exponential rate. We aim to establish all of this through a variety of different settings and experiences:

Clearly, education and continuation of studies is important to all: however, we strongly feel that the young person needs to be ready and willing to commit to this. Once they are ready, our experienced professionals will be able to help the young person reach their full potential in their academic studies and personal growth.

We operate without a central hub. We carry out sessions based on the young person’s needs. This can range from tutoring in school settings, libraries or a quiet space within the community.

Mentoring sessions involve various aspirational activities. Physical activity is a core element of our programme, and our students currently enjoy a wide range of activities such as horse riding, fishing, climbing, football, tennis, pool and multi skills. We partner with Rejuvenate Gym to offer fitness programmes for students who enjoy being active. Exploring the great outdoors is another fantastic method to engage our students with.

We have multiple connections with farm schools and forest schools to provide broad options for our young people.

Every effort is made to provide a programme that inspires and engages our young people.
